Why the firm is built this way
Most intellectual property work at large firms is delegated downward. A partner wins the matter, an associate learns your technology on your budget, and the person who understands your invention best is the one least likely to be drafting the claims that protect it.
This firm is structured to avoid that. The attorney who takes your first call is the attorney who reads the data, writes the application and negotiates the agreement. The number of active matters is capped deliberately, because that is the only honest way to promise both a fixed fee and a file that keeps moving.
It also means saying no. If a matter needs a litigation bench, a specialist in another jurisdiction, or expertise this firm does not have, you will be told that at the consultation rather than three months into an engagement.

The price before the work
Scope and fee are agreed in writing before anything billable begins. Where a matter genuinely cannot be scoped in advance, you will be told that instead of being quoted a number that later moves.
Plain answers
Advice in language you can act on, and a direct answer when the answer is that you do not need the thing you called about.
Confidentiality as the default
A significant share of this firm's work is never published, named or credited, including defense adjacent and pre disclosure matters. Client identities appear on this site only with permission.
One attorney, start to finish
No handoff to an associate after the pitch. The person on the consultation is the person on the file.

The firm is based in Austin, Texas and represents clients across the United States, and internationally on many IP matters. Most work happens over secure video, which keeps the cost down and the calendar open. In person meetings are available in Austin, Houston, Dallas and San Antonio, and elsewhere with travel arranged in advance.
