William Furlow, Esq., M.S. is a patent attorney with extensive expertise at the intersection of science, technology, and intellectual property law. He advises on high-stakes legal, commercialization, and national security matters across both the private sector and key federal agencies, including the U.S. Departments of Defense, Energy, Health and Human Services, and Homeland Security.

William’s practice spans patent and trademark prosecutioncopyright and technology transactionsentrepreneurial and regulatory consulting, and federal technology transfer.

He brings deep subject-matter knowledge in emerging technical and scientific innovations, life sciences, artificial intelligence, and dual-use technologies. His work includes developing strategic patent portfolios, conducting prior art and freedom-to-operate analyses, navigating USPTO and trademark filings, and negotiating high-value licensing and IP agreements.

Recognized for his ability to bridge complex legal frameworks with cutting-edge technologies, William is a regular contributor to the American Bar Association’s Science & Technology Law Section, where he writes and presents on biotechnology law, AI governance, IP strategy, and the legal implications of dual-use innovation. His mission is to ensure that transformative discoveries are not only protected but also translated into scalable, real-world impact.

William holds a J.D. from Emory University School of Law, an M.S. in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology from Georgetown University, and a B.S. in Biology with Honors from The University of Texas at Tyler. In Fall 2025, he will begin part-time a Electrical and Computer Engineering degree to deepen his technical proficiency. He is a Dean’s List honoree, Biomedical Merit Scholar, and an alumnus of advanced science and technology policy programs at Duke University and The Washington Center.
